What We Install

What Is Safety &
Security Window Film?

Safety and security window film is a thick, multi-layer polyester film bonded to the interior surface of your existing glass. Where standard glass shatters into dangerous flying shards when broken, security film holds all the fragments bonded together — preventing injury and keeping the glazing unit structurally intact even after severe impact.

For security applications, this creates a powerful forced-entry deterrent. An intruder attempting a smash-and-grab through a filmed window must strike repeatedly to create a large enough opening, dramatically increasing the time, effort, and noise required — giving alarm systems time to respond and deterring opportunistic crime entirely.

Available from 4 mil (100 micron) for basic safety applications up to 14 mil (350 micron) for high-security commercial use. All films are virtually clear and optically transparent — completely undetectable once installed. Sadel Tint installs security film across all of Dublin and surrounding counties.

What It Protects Against

Security Film Protects
Dublin Properties From

One film — multiple threats addressed. Here's what safety and security film guards against across Dublin homes and businesses.

Smash & Grab Burglary

The most common commercial break-in method in Dublin — a single heavy blow to a glass door or storefront. Security film forces repeated strikes to create an opening, making opportunistic smash-and-grab attacks extremely difficult and noisy.

Residential Break-Ins

Glazed back doors, patio doors, and ground-floor windows are the most common entry points for Dublin home break-ins. Security film on these panels significantly slows forced entry, giving alarm systems time to trigger and deterring opportunistic intruders.

Accidental Injury

Children running into glass doors, slips near glass partitions, or accidental impacts can cause standard glass to shatter into razor-sharp fragments. Safety film holds broken glass bonded in place, preventing serious lacerations and injuries at home, in schools, and in public spaces.

Storm & Impact Damage

Extreme weather events, airborne debris, and accidental vehicle impact can all shatter glass windows. Security film holds the glazing in place after breakage, preventing dangerous projectile shards, limiting weather ingress, and maintaining a barrier until repairs are made.

Vandalism & Malicious Damage

Retail premises, car showrooms, and offices in Dublin city and suburbs are targets for vandalism and deliberate glass damage. Security film keeps glazing intact after minor impacts, reducing the frequency and cost of glass replacement and protecting stock from exposure.

Glass Door Shattering

Toughened safety glass in shower enclosures, internal doors, and commercial glazing can spontaneously shatter or break on heavy impact into thousands of small, still-sharp pellets. Safety film contains all fragments within the film matrix, preventing them from scattering across the floor.

The Difference It Makes

Without Film vs
With Sadel Tint Security Film

Without Security Film
A single blow to a glass door or window gives instant access — typical smash-and-grab takes under 10 seconds
Broken glass shatters into hundreds of sharp fragments — creating serious injury risk for anyone nearby
Once broken, the window provides zero barrier — property is fully exposed to intruders and weather
Children, pets, and staff are unprotected from accidental glass breakage in doors and partitions
Full glass replacement required after every break — costly and time-consuming for businesses
With Sadel Tint Security Film
Glass holds together on impact — repeated strikes needed to gain entry, creating significant delay and noise
All broken glass fragments remain bonded to the film — no dangerous shards fly or scatter
Filmed glass retains structural integrity after breakage — maintaining a physical barrier even when broken
Accidental impacts from children and falls are safely contained — no injury from glass fragments
Filmed glass can often be left in place temporarily after breakage — reducing emergency glazing call-out costs

Common Questions

Safety & Security Film
FAQ — Dublin

Safety and security window film is a thick, multi-layer polyester film bonded to the interior surface of existing glass. On impact, it holds all shattered glass fragments together rather than allowing them to scatter — preventing injury and making forced entry through windows far more difficult and time-consuming. It is virtually clear and undetectable once installed.
Security film does not make glass unbreakable, but it holds the broken glass together so that an intruder must strike repeatedly to create an opening — rather than gaining instant access with a single blow. This significantly increases entry time and noise, which is the primary deterrent for the opportunistic smash-and-grab burglaries that are most common in Dublin retail and commercial premises.
The right thickness depends on your risk level and glass type. 4 mil is suitable for basic safety and accidental breakage protection in homes and schools. 8 mil is the most popular choice for residential security and commercial premises. 14 mil is recommended for high-value targets such as pharmacies, banks, and high-risk retail. Sadel Tint will advise during your free site assessment.
No. Safety and security films are optically clear and virtually invisible once professionally installed. Your windows will look identical from inside and outside the property — there is no tint, no reflection, and no visible film edge when correctly applied. Security film can also be combined with tinted or frosted film if privacy is also required.
Yes. Our safety film is compatible with all standard glass types including single glazing, double glazing, toughened safety glass, and Low-E glass. We assess compatibility during our site visit and will advise if any glass type requires a specific film specification.
